I had such a wonderful morning with bride Rebecca at the wonderful Leez Priory at the weekend. Rebecca had wonderful fine hair, which is my favourite to work with. She arranged to have extensions incorporated into her hairstyle before her wedding day to give a little more volume, but this can also be achieved by incorporating clip in hair extensions, which I can supply. I have also used a little padding within this hairstyle, to ensure the volume lasts all day.
I know this may come as a surprise to some of you, but trashing the wedding dress a few months after the wedding is becoming quite a thing! Some brides like to trash their dress for many different reasons. Some, because they had lots of problems with the dress in the lead up to the wedding, or had trouble with it on the day and a few just do not want it sitting up in the loft for years to come and there are also a few brides, who just want to have the fun of a Trash the Dress shoot. You can even decide how you would like to trash the dress. My recent bride trashed her dress at a couple of locations. Starting at the Seven Sisters Cliffs in Sussex then onto Beachy Head before finishing up in the sea. What a wonderfully brave lady Stephanie was and so much fun too. All you need is a good photographer, a hair and makeup artist to make you look extra special and a bride. The photographer on the day was Scott from The Edge. We all had the most fabulous day, such great fun with lots of laughs and we finished up the day with Stephanie, the bride, piling her wet trashed dress into a big black bin liner, ready for the bin. If you are considering trashing your dress, please get in touch and we can talk through some ideas, anything is possible!
I first met Victoria two months ago, when she came to me for her wedding hair trial. Victorias’ hair was quite short and blonde and very fine. She wanted her hair to have lots of volume on her wedding day so we tried lots of different techniques with an array of different coloured hair extensions, which I keep here, to find the perfect match for her hair. We found the perfect set and then styled her hair beautifully.
Victoria kept in touch with me throughout the entire time from first contact right through to her wedding day which was yesterday. It was a very early start as Victoria had a large bridal party so we had to get started by 7.15am for a 1.30pm wedding. I styled the bride, bridesmaids and mother of bride and flower girl, so it was a very busy fun filled morning. Victoria actually called me before I left my home at 6.30am, to ask if I had any calpol as her daughter was a little unwell and there were no shops open. Having four children of my own, I had plenty in supply! Her beautiful daughter was soon back to her happy little self shortly after receiving the medicine.
Victoria decided to hire the extensions from me for her wedding day, as she knew it would be unlikely that she would wear them again. Her hair looked absolutely stunning yesterday. I then went on to style the three adult bridesmaids, mother of the bride and flower girl, all with plenty of time left over for them all to get dressed in a very calm relaxing environment. The photos I have taken are by me, but I look forward to posting professional photos as soon as Victoria has received these. Thank you Victoria for being a fabulous bride, you were so calm. It was also lovely to work alongside the lovely Hayley and Tegan who were Front of House and looking after her throughout the day. Good luck Victoria and I hope you have the most amazing honeymoon in Jamiaca! Gail xx
I met with this wonderful lady, Rebekah, when she came for her hair and makeup trial last month. Her wedding was very last minute as her husband has a new job abroad and they had to bring their wedding day forward. They literally had a few weeks to get organised. I loved my trial with Rebekah, such a wonderful bride. I styled her hair and makeup at the trial and then went to her venue, Gosfield Hall, to get her and her mother ready on her wedding morning.
Gosfield Hall is such a beautiful wedding venue, full of class. Rebekah stayed at the Ladys’ Chambers the evening before so it helped make the wedding day go very smoothly. Here are some pictures I took of Rebekahs hair. Im not brilliant at taking photos, so I will be chasing her photographer, Ben from www.lavenhamphotography.co.uk who will have captured her wedding day perfectly.
It was also lovely to work alongside the Front of House manager on the day, Catherine Yarrow. Catherine is so calm and can take the stress out of any wedding morning. Here are my photos of Rebekah but I will be posting some professional ones later in the month. Congratulations Rebekah and good luck with your big move abroad this weekend. Gail xx
Had a lovely morning styling Aimee and her beautiful bridesmaids on her wedding day. Aimee married at Mulberry House, which is a beautiful country house based in Ongar, Essex. Beautiful photos taken by Stacy England (www.sephotography.co.uk).
I had a fabulous time preparing all the Models for the Catwalk at the recent Brentwood Wedding Show in Essex. Crazily busy day but great fun too, especially when you have Beauty and the Beast playing all day! Thank you to all the fabulous Models for being so patient, you were all so wonderful.
I had the most wonderful day styling bride Nicola and her party for her wedding to husband Aiden at Gosfield Hall. I worked alongside Victoria Taylor Makeup Artist. Gosfield Hall is such a beautiful salubrious wedding venue, fit for a queen. I have attached a few images of Nicola getting ready at the cottage, the Ladys Chambers, which is available for the bride to hire the evening before her wedding day. We usually start styling the bride and her bridal party in the Ladys Chambers and then move over to the most amazing Bridal Suite, The Rococco Room, where the bride and the bridal party dress for the wedding and meet with the Registrars prior to taking their vows.
Nicolas stunning dress was designed by Stella York. The Florists were the wonderfully talented The Willows, based in Chelmsford. I styled the bridal parties hair and the makeup artist on the day was lovely Victoria Taylor. The fabulous photos were taken by the fantastic EPS Photography.
What an absolute joy it was to style Michelle and her bridal party on her wedding day at the stunning Blake Hall in Ongar Essex. Michelle welcomed us into her family for the morning whilst we busily prepared everyone for the big day. Thank you Michelle, we had the most fabulous morning and wow, Blake Hall is such an amazing wedding venue.
I had a wonderful time on the morning of Lisas’ wedding. Lisa had such beautiful hair and she chose a loose romantic updo for her wedding day. She also wanted her bridal party to wear their hair up too. I absolutely love Lisas photos, they were taken by the very talented Rachel Weatherley. Rachel managed to get very close up to Lisa and really capture her beauty. All of Rachels photos did that. I love the photos below, especially the second photo, of Lisa dancing with her father. Congratulations Lisa, I hope you and your husband have a wonderful married life together.
After an extremely busy year styling so many beautiful brides for their wedding day, I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I have the Title of Wedding Hairstylist of the Year Award, with the Essex Wedding Awards, for 2019. I was a finalist with 9 other fabulous hairstylists and hair salons. To be announced as the winner was a very proud moment for myself and my family. This is the third time I have won this fantastic award. It has inspired me even further, to ensure my brides have the very best and most amazing hairstyle and makeup on their wedding day. Here are some images from the Awards Evening, also featuring my husband and beautiful daughter who were there to help me celebrate.
Wow, what a week. I had the fabulous opportunity of working back stage at the local theatre with the fabulous Chelmsford Young Generation Amateur Dramatics Group. I worked as part of a great team, helping the cast with their hair and makeup for their production of Les Miserables. It was great working with a team of people all focussed to make sure everyone looked fantastic, and for everything to run smoothly and on time. There were lots of quick changes, wig changes and fabulous makeup applied the Principles in the show with a particularly haunted look for all the ensemble. Such a fabulous week with fabulous people, we were all rewarded with the cast receiving a standing ovation every night. Very well deserved.
Congratulations to these two beautiful ladies, Emma and Kelsey who married at The Channels Estate in Chelmsford, Essex. These lovely girls were so much fun on their wedding morning and really made me feel part of their day. I carried out the Hair and Makeup for them both and also for their bridesmaid. These photos were taken by the fabulous Chloe Lee. I really will always remember my morning with these two, so much fun. Congratulations. Gail xx
Congratulations to Liz and Kay who married on Saturday at The Park Inn Palace Hotel, Southend. Overlooking Adventure Island and the Sea! What a spectacular view! I wish I took a photo of the wedding flowers, they were out of this world. I do not think I have ever seen such amazing wedding bouquets. I would definitely recommend this amazing florist. Her name is Sarah Rozee of Re:Creation Flowers. Outstanding. Congratulations Liz and Kay, I hope you had the most fantastic time on Saturday. x
I cannot tell you how much fun I had with Bride Michelle and her wonderful bridal party on Friday, at the beautiful Blake Hall Wedding Venue in Ongar. I love Blake Hall, such a beautiful wedding venue with an amazing Barn too. Very rustic and earthy, definitely worth looking up if you are still considering wedding venues.
Michelles wedding was all about family. She included everyone in her wedding day and made everyone feel they had an important role. Her two beautiful daughters were flower girls and her sisters and friends were Bridesmaids. It was a very warmhearted wedding morning, everyone offering to help each other and making sure everything went smoothly. Also thank you to your wonderful bridesmaid Jenny, who made sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink and kept including me and the makeup artist Elaine, too. Thank you all for making us feel an important part of your special day. x
This is my lovely bridal party who all got ready at the brides home and then travelled to the stunningly quaint wedding venue Maidens Barn. The bride, Stacey, had 5 bridesmaids so the wedding morning was very entertaining with a fantastic playlist on full volume to keep everyone in the party mood. Congratulations Stacey. xx
This is lovely Lorna who married very recently at The Warren Estate in Maldon, Essex. Such a beautiful venue with a fabulous Golf Course too. Lorna was adorable! Lorna had such a calming air about her and was so appreciative of everyones help on the day. Her wedding theme was vintage and she had the most fantastic dress. I look forward to seeing her professional wedding photos. Congratulations Lorna, I wish you so much happiness. xx
This is stunning Zena and her bridesmaid who had their hair styled for Zenas official engagement party. Wedding to take place next year. Zena had the most fantastic hair, I could have happily spent hours with her styling her wonderful hair but her event was taking place very early in the day so we only had limited time together to find her perfect engagement hairstyle.
This is Kate, who I actually did not get to meet until her wedding morning, due to her busy daytime schedule. I met with Kate, for the first time, at The County Hotel in Chelmsford, Essex, to carry out the hair and makeup for her large bridal party. Kates’ family all travelled over from America for this very special day so the morning was outstandingly entertaining. I absolutely love Kates’ chosen wedding hairstyle. I cannot wait to see all her professional wedding photos, which I will share on here. Kate had all her wedding preparations of hair and makeup carried out at The County Hotel and then went on to Newland Hall Wedding Venue for a Twilight Wedding. This type of wedding is becoming very popular. The bride can have access to Newland Hall from 4pm with her wedding ceremony taking place from 6pm, followed by a wonderful evening reception. I think Twilight Weddings are going to become very popular in 2019.
I loved styling beautiful Samantha and her bridesmaids’ hair and makeup on her wedding morning at Mulberry House Hotel in Ongar, Essex. What a perfect venue! Samantha had a vintage them and wore a beautiful tea dress to compliment her style. We had so much fun in the morning, with a fantastic playlist to really set off the vintage feel. I also absolutely loved her flowers too! They were created by the most amazing florist, The Botanical Shed. I really recommend looking her up. The flowers were so romantic and absolutely perfect for Samantha.
Another very early start yesterday at the stunning venue Gosfield Hall. I loved preparing Fallon and her four bridesmaids and mother of the bride for her wedding day. Fallon had the most amazing platinum blonde hair so it was an absolute joy to work with. Here are some pictures I took yesterday. One of the Bride, Bridesmaid and the stunning flower girl that had mermaid hair. x
This is Amy. She married on Tuesday at the stunning Gaynes Park Barns in Epping. A very popular venue! I actually got Amy ready at the Marriott Hotel in Waltham Abbey as she did not have access to Gaynes Park until midday. This was ideal as it meant she could arrive at the venue and just get dressed with her bridal party without any fuss. Amy had the longest thickest hair with a natural curl. I completely restyled Amys’ hair by putting in some fabulous products (Kenra Professional) and completely changed the curl so it was much more relaxed and softer. Congratulations Amy!
I had the pleasure of spending Monday morning with Robyn and her family at Blake Hall in Ongar, getting her ready for her special day. I am putting up a picture of the stunning cottage that they all stayed in the night before and where I got them all ready in the morning. Then they had a very short walk to the venue on site. Robyn had seen a hairstyle in a magazine that she wanted so I made sure to replicate it as close as possible. I am uploading a photo of how I had styled her hair first before we actually started styling the plait. I loved the hairstyle even before the plait, so I could not resist in taking a few photos.
Here is stunning Sarah. Sarah married on Saturday at The Milling Barn in Throcking. Firstly, check out this stunning venue. It’s like a big secret. Such a relaxed casual atmosphere and absolutely stunning. Congratulations Sarah, thank you for a wonderful morning. You looked amazing.
I have worked with this lovely family for many years and have styled all the sisters for their wedding day. Last Friday their ‘little brother’ was getting married, the last of them all, so they asked me to style them all again for this very emotional day. I was amazed at the colourful array of hats and outfits. They could have all been going to Ladies Day at Ascot.
This is beautiful Sophie who married at Gaynes Park Barns on Thursday last week. I had the joy of styling all the bridesmaids hair and the bride and mother of the brides hair and makeup. Gaynes Park is such a stunning venue, exclusive venue for the day. Sophie got ready at her parents house in Brentwood then headed over to Gaynes Park to get dressed with everyone and head down that fabulous aisle.
This is beautiful Birte. I used hair extensions and padding to create this beautiful hairstyle. Birte married at the stunning Gosfield Hall Wedding venue, where she had exclusive use for the entire day and night.
